A peek at what I've been creating lately - currently working on a collection of mini hanging wood slice paintings that are almost ready to go in my shop.
The studio/homeschool space has been cleaned and reorganized for another year of homeschooling and we're all pretty excited about the projects and unit studies happening this year (more about that in another post).
I did consciously reorganize this year with the thought of keeping the room a functional art studio as well as a classroom and I'm pretty pleased with the layout. We aren't starting school until the week of September 19th but I've been doing some painting regularly and so far it's working out beautifully. Everything school related has a home and is easy to put away at the end of the day. We just need to be diligent about cleaning up our messes at the end of our school days so that I'll be able to continue to use the space for creating when the mood hits.

Since we've already done a lot of the end of summer yard work in preparation for hurricane season, I've been spending some time in the studio painting as I'm prepping and printing the last few assignments and projects for the upcoming school year. I've been moving back and forth between projects, working on a collection of mini hanging wood slice paintings and also putting in some hours on a large seascape painting I started quite some time ago.
Every time I get back to creating after a long break I always have a bit of fear that the ideas won't come or I'll have lost the skill to bring them out of my head and onto the canvas. I didn't experience any of those thoughts this time around and just decided one day that it was time to get back at it and I've been happily stealing 10 minutes here and an hour there to work away at my current projects. I'm hoping to have this wood slice collection finished and ready to list in my Etsy shop by the end of this month.
